History
History at Renhold
At Renhold VC Primary School, we believe that through studying History, pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world which helps to stimulate pupil’s curiosity and an enjoyment of learning.
‘A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots’. Marcus Garvey
Children are empowered by asking perceptive questions to think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments and develop perspective and judgment, the skills required to be a good Historian. By delving deeper, pupils can make connections to the past and the world in which they live now. They begin to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the diversity of societies and the relationship between different groups. They learn about the processes of change and the challenges of time. Pupils learn through passion, enthusiasm and encouragement that History is all around them.
