MFL Vision Statement

At Renhold VC Primary, we believe that students deserve a broad, progressive, and ambitious MFL curriculum, rich in skills and knowledge. We hope to stimulate curiosity and the wonder of learning a new language as we prepare them well for their future learning. At Renhold, we embrace, accept and celebrate diversity and the study of French is an ideal vehicle by which to do this. It raises their awareness of our multi-lingual and multi-cultural world and introduces an international dimension to pupil’s learning, giving them an insight into their own culture and that of others.

The learning of a foreign language provides a medium for cross-curricular links and for reinforcement of knowledge, skills and understanding developed in other subjects. It bridges the curriculum by developing linguistic competence, extending knowledge of how language works and through exploring the difference and similarities between French and English. All of this contributes towards a journey of learning culminating in the creation of confident, life-long learners.
