Geography
Our Geography vision:
At Renhold VC Primary we believe that students deserve a broad, progressive, and ambitious Geography curriculum, rich in skills and knowledge. We hope to stimulate curiosity and a wonder of their world as we prepare them well for their future learning. At Renhold we embrace, accept and celebrate diversity and through the Geography curriculum, we will provide our students with the confidence and experience to help inform and shape ideas; investigating the human and physical strands of this multi-faceted subject.
“Geography students hold the key to the earth’s problems” (Michael Palin). The subjects’ inherent connections with our planet on a local, national and world-wide scale, enable students to become global citizens and have the cultural literacy to be role models for the future. The curriculum encourages students to ask questions, develop critical thinking skills, and layer a deeper understanding of complex concepts as the we navigate through the curriculum from Reception to Year 6. Geography bridges the curriculum from the physical processes in Science, creativity in English to the quantitate skills of Mathematics. Students are able to use these connections to excel in the wider world as celebrated, confident, life-long learners.
