Our maths strapline:
“An exciting adventure that everyone can enjoy, value and master”
We believe mathematics at Renhold is “an exciting adventure that everyone can enjoy and master”. We view mathematics as a tool for everyday life; a network of numerical skills, concepts and relationships which provide a way of viewing and making sense of the world. We are responsible of designing and delivering a mathematics curriculum that builds confident, competent, resilient and curious mathematicians who are equipped for understanding the world around them. We foster young minds to be able to able to confidently tackle a range of practical tasks and real-life problems through making connections and reasoning mathematically.
We develop independent and reflective thinkers who have the ability to solve problems, to reason, to think logically and to work systematically and accurately. We aim to foster pupil’s confidence and competence in applying and using mathematical knowledge, skills and concepts; we provide opportunities for pupils to use these skills not only to liberate them in maths, but also support them across the wider curriculum. We are developing our curriculum by encompassing the 5 Big Ideas of the NCETM’s Teaching for Mastery approach in order for pupils to build on their learning cohesively in order to maximise progress.
Pupils at Renhold have a happy, positive attitude towards the subject and have an awareness of the relevance of mathematics in the real world. They use their initiative and motivation to relish in the challenge of mathematics. We learn from our mistakes.
