Weekend Round Up / Vol 9

 

Welcome to the latest issue of our Weekend Round Up!  

 

It’s been a really busy week with our Outdoor Activities Days, everybody practising their dances ready for the Summer Fayre and a visit from the farm for our youngest peers. We hope you enjoy reading about it.

Pre-School

This week the children in Pre-school have been sorting buttons by size, learning all about Noah’s Ark, learning about farm animals and had a special visit from the farm! Please see our pictures below.

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Learning how to look after animals!”  “Different buttons!”

Reception

This week the children in Reception Class have been learning about primary and secondary colours and mixing colours using powder paint, discovering the similarities and differences between the Bible and the Koran (Qur’an) and practising their dance for the Summer Fayre.   

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Making colours!” “Practising our dance!”

Class 1

This week the children in Class 1 have been practising lots of different skills in PE including dribbling a football, javelin and the bean bag throw, learning about Mr Grinling in The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch and practising their dance for the Summer Fayre.

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Practising our dance!” “Learning about Mr Grinling!”

Class 2

This week the children in Class 2 have been making alphabet books, learning about bar models in maths, connecting sentences in literacy and practising their dance for the Summer Fayre.

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

 “Bar models”  “Practising our Summer Fayre dance!”

Class 3

This week the children in Class 3 have been practising their maypole dance for the Summer Fayre with Class 4, writing their own ending to a story and practising their singing for the Sing On concert at the Corn Exchange. 

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Predicting what will happen next!” “Singing!”

Class 4

This week the children in Class 4 have been soup tasting, comparing triangles in maths, doing a reading assessment ready for their move to Class 5 and practising the maypole dance with Class 3.

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were…

 

“Our Amazing Bodies topic!” “Lots of handwriting practice”

Class 5

This week the children in Class 5 have been practising their dance for the Summer Fayre, learning about dialogue and acting it out with a friend in literacy, testing parachutes to determine forces and air resistance in Science, learning about multiples and factors in maths and went to a church service with Class 6.

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Helping with the Junior Running Club!”  “Testing parachutes!”

Class 6

This week the children in Class 6 have been rehearsing for their end of year play, also testing parachutes to determine forces and air resistance in Science, practising their dance for the Summer Fayre and attended a church service with Class 5.

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Science!’’ “Dance!”

Spotlight on Active Assembly! 
On Thursday morning we had Active Assembly with Miss Larham.  We were taught a new dance by children from Class 5, did lots of dancing and were energised for the day ahead!
