Pre-School

This week the children in Pre-school have been reading and learning about ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’, making Father’s Day cards and dressing up. 

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Dressing Up!”  “Playing with the corn flour!”

Reception

This week the children in Reception Class have been learning how to tell the time, writing sentences, making cakes out of sand and playing.  

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Choosing time!” “Making sand cakes!”

Class 1

This week the children in Class 1 have been learning about Growth Mindset, reading the ‘Rainbow Fish’ story, and learning about number bonds in maths. 

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Practising number bonds!” “Reading the Rainbow Fish!”

Class 2

This week the children in Class 2 have been reading and learning about the book ‘This Rabbit Belongs to Emily Brown’, working on number lines in maths and writing a letter to the Queen – a character in the book.  

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Writing a story about the Queen who has stolen Emily’s rabbit!" “Learning about number lines”

Class 3

This week the children in Class 3 have been learning about right angles, obtuse angels and acute angles in maths, making Father’s Day cards and making pom-poms to represent brain cells for our Open Afternoon. 

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Making a Father’s Day card!” “Making brain cell pom-poms!”

Class 4

This week the children in Class 4 have been practising their athletics skills for the Quad Kids tournament, learning all about Growth Mindset, making Father’s Day cards, learning origami and practising their new skills by making an origami rabbit.  

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were…

 

“Writing a mindset poem!” “Making a paper rabbit!”

Class 5

This week the children in Class 5 have been finishing off their clock-inspired frames in D&T, revising their maths skills, practising as a class band and making positive and negative statement mobiles for Growth Mindset Week. 

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Maths!”  “I enjoyed discovering different ways to make the clock frame stand up!”

Class 6

This week the children in Class 6 have been creating a coding game, rehearsing for their end of year play, writing play scripts and using monoprinting, collage and painting to make an Andy Warhol inspired Pop Art artwork as part of Growth Mindset Week.

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Coding with Mr Grayson!” “Doing art with Mrs Wilson!”

Spotlight on Assembly! 
On Thursday morning, we welcomed special visitor Megan for a ‘Ned’s Mindset Mission’ assembly as part of Growth Mindset Week.   She taught us the value of encouragement, perseverance and ‘the incredible power of yet'.
