Pre-School

 

This week the children in Pre-school have made Little Red Riding Hood pictures, played outside and read lots of books.  

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Reading fairy tales!”  “Playing outside”  “Drawing and colouring!”

Reception

 

This week the children in Reception Class have been learning more about number bonds to 10 and working on subtraction in maths, learning about animals and their habitats, writing a sentence about the animal they liked most during the recent Zoo Lab visit, and planted flowers and vegetables in their garden.  

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Planting and gardening!”  “Learning about different species of fish!”

Class 1

 

This week the children in Class 1 have been learning about capacity in maths, constructing models out of Duplo, reading ‘The Ugly Duckling’ and practising singing some iSing Pop songs.

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Reading more of The Ugly Duckling.”  “Singing!”

Class 2

 

This week the children in Class 2 have been using a picture stimulus to write a short story which includes descriptions, a range of punctuation and conjunctions. Their topic is ‘Katy Morag’ and they have also been working on time in maths.   

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

 “Writing my story!”

Class 3

 

This week the children in Class 3 made a working windmill out of paper and lolly pop sticks, read Michael Morpurgo’s ‘Friend or Foe’, made a World War II bomb shelter and wrote a letter from an evacuee to their parents.  

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Writing my evacuee letter!”  “Making a bomb shelter.”

Class 4

 

This week the children in Class 4 have been learning about and using the 24 hour clock, did singing on Thursday, learnt about electricity in science and have been learning about how we learn in PSHE.

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were…

 

“Telling the time!”  “Find out about how electricity works!”

Class 5

 

This week the children in Class 5 have been testing McDonald’s straws in science to see how long they last in different drinks, making portraits based on different art movements including pointillism, realism and Pop Art, and learning different bowling techniques in Kwick Cricket in PE. 

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Creating self portraits in different styles.”  “Loved cricket!”

Class 6

 

This week the children in Class 6 have been making fake blood in science and filming the experiment in the style of a cookery show, learning more about angles in maths and learning volleyball shooting skills in PE.

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“We enjoyed filling in missing angles on a shape.”  “Shooting in volleyball!”
