Welcome to the first issue of our Weekend Round Up for the new school year!  

 

It’s been a really busy start to the term and we have lots to tell you. We hope you enjoy reading about it.

Monday 9 – Friday 13 September

 

Pre-School

This week the children in Pre-school have been painting pictures of their pets, drawing, playing in the house outside and settling in for the year ahead.

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Playing!”  “Painting…blowing the paint!”

Reception

This week the children in Reception Class have been learning new sounds in phonics, have welcomed their parents in for a phonics lesson to help support their learning at home, have revitalised an old playhouse to create a church and place to learn about worship and been trying out their new construction area!

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Counting to 10!” “Writing our names!”

Class 1

This week the children in Class 1 have been learning all about space, counting, painting posters and learning how to stay safe at school.

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Space!” “Counting!”

Class 2

This week the children in Class 2 have been investigating the UFO crash in the former Forest School area, interviewing members of Class 6 to find out if they saw anything suspicious and writing up their findings! They have also been studying everyday materials in science, creating alien pictograms and playing with their toy vehicles.

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

 “Alien crash!”  “Pictograms!”

Class 3

This week the children in Class 3 have been learning all about Dalmatians and Cruella De Ville, adding in 100s in maths and started their ‘Heroes and Villains’ topic.

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

Class 4

This week the children in Class 4 have been learning all about Roman numerals, working hard on a maths assessment, learning about Dalmatians and Cruella De Ville and making their own ‘Wheel of Creation’ in R.E. 

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were…

Class 5

This week the children in Class 5 have been learning about Egyptian mummification, making Roman numerals out of lollipop sticks and learning relaxation techniques. 

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Mummification!”

Class 6

This week the children in Class 6 have been working hard on the first of their weekly arithmetic tests, using the new ‘jigsaw’ method for their ‘Being Me in My World’ PHSE topic and had an amazing science lesson with Mrs Bennett learning all about ‘Marvellous Mixtures’.

Spotlight on Active Lunchtimes! 
This week our new lunchtime club with Bedford Blues Rugby Club got off to a flying start. Lots of children got stuck in and found a new love in rugby!
