Our Vision for PE and School Sport

We believe that every child should experience a broad and balanced programme of high quality physical education and school sport which is progressive, stimulating and challenging for pupils of every ability. We believe that PE facilitates physical and mental health, development and well-being; provides valuable social experiences and lessons and provides life-long benefits in terms of interests and health. Children should be exposed to as wide a breadth and depth of experiences as possible to enable them to make balanced choices of activity from a range of options as they grow older.

We are proud to be part of the School Games Awards Scheme and currently hold the Silver Award and are hoping to gain the Gold Award.

The children take part in a regular programme of inter and intra-school sports. We encourage the children to become sports leaders at every level of school and our Key Stage 2 Pupils receive regular training in Sports Leadership.

We also have a range of lunchtime 'Change for Life' Clubs run by our sports coach, Mr Burnapp as well as a variety of after-school sports clubs. This year we have added cross-country running to our lunchtime clubs, led by a coach from Bedford and County Athletics Club.

We have links with several local sports clubs including Oakley AFC, Bedford Junior Blues RFC, Riverside Tennis Club, Bedford Cricket Club, Kinetic Vibes Dance Academy and Bedford and County AC.
