'Weekend Round Up'! 

 

Our plan is to give you a weekly peek into our time at school, from a child's perspective.  We will be sharing details of what each class has been up to and which learning activities we found the most exciting and interesting. We hope you enjoy it!

Pre-School

This week the children in Pre-school have been learning about St George’s Day, practising writing numbers and their names, and dancing with Mrs Millard.  

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Dancing with Mrs Millard in the hall.”  “Playing outside!” “Playing with Duplo."

Reception

This week the children in Reception Class have been learning about how to look after minibeasts, gardening and number bonds to 10.

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Gardening outside!”  “Doing my number bonds to 10!”  “Practising my phonics.”

Class 1

This week the children in Class 1 have been learning about adding and subtracting 10 in maths, learning about carnivores, herbivores and omnivores in science, and “The Ugly Duckling” in literacy.

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Learning about The Ugly Duckling.”  “I liked adding 10 in maths!”

Class 2

This week the children in Class 2 have been learning about habitats, measuring millilitres and litres in maths, watching a clip called Kipper and finishing the story for literacy.

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Weighing quarters and thirds in maths.”

Class 3

This week the children in Class 3 have been learning about World War II, the story of two boys evacuated from London, and ‘power of force’ in science. 

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Learning about World War II.”  “Learning about push and pull and the power of force.”

Class 4

This week the children in Class 4 have been learning about why people wore gas masks in World War II, what ‘D Day’ was and the time-line of World War II.

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were…

 

“Choosing what was true, false and ‘not sure’ about World War II.”

Class 5

This week the children in Class 5 have been learning about the life cycle of animals in science, decimal numbers in maths and what a ‘flashback’ is in literacy.

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“Making a poster of the life cycle of an animal.”  “Doing decimals in maths.”

Class 6

This week the children in Class 6 have been playing volleyball in P.E, learning about angles in maths and the circulatory system of a heart in science, and had a SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) hunt.

 

The things we found most interesting and exciting this week were….

 

“P.E learning volleyball!”  “Angles in maths.”  “Doing the SPaG hunt!”

Our chat with Mrs Ward….

This week Mrs Ward has been helping Class 1 with their phonics ready for their test.  The best part of Mrs Ward’s week was joining the children to do the ‘Daily Mile’ as part of our Summer Fitness Challenge!

 

Our chat with Miss Larham….

The most exciting part of Miss Larham’s week was making a Renhold Primary Basic Skills literacy and maths book!
